Ollheim is located on the left bank of the Rhine about 15 kilometers from Bonn between the Eifel and the foothills on the federal motorway 61 between the villages of Miel, Ludendorf, Dünstekoven, Straßfeld (municipality of Swisttal) and Dom-Esch (city of Euskirchen). The hamlet of Mömerzheim to the southwest also belongs to the district and the district of Ollheim .

history

Ollheim is over 900 years old. When the Franks in the 4th / 5th In the 17th century AD the Romans were expelled from the Rhineland and Clovis I (approx. 500 AD) and large parts of his people converted to Christianity, numerous churches were dedicated to St. Martin was consecrated as he was the favorite saint of the Franconian house men and kings. What is striking is the frequent occurrence of St. Martin's patronage in the Rheinbach district , which is attributed to a Franconian royal villa near Kirchheim. From this castle of the Franks, otherwise called Hockebur, most of the Martinskirchen around Rheinbach were founded. The patronage of St. Martinus in Ollheim points to the Franconian-Merovingian times, as Ollheim was in the area of the royal villa Hockebur. The church was originally an estate chapel and the patronage of the church was given in connection with this court for a long time. The old church before 1907 still had clear remains of an old Romanesque pillar structure. In the book The Parishes of the Meckenheim and Rheinbach deaneries by Dr. Heusgen says: “The Franconian royal estate near Kirchheim is surrounded by a wreath of Martinskirchen, which at the same time allows us to recognize the scope of the district of this royal villa, namely the churches in Kirchheim, and earlier certainly also Flamersheim, Hilberath, Rheinbach, Ipplendorf, Ollheim, Esch , Euskirchen, Stotzheim. “Documentary mentions can be found among others. a. for the years around 1270, mostly related to the Siegburg Abbey, which Ollheim owned at that time.

When the Rhineland was divided into four departments by the French in 1798 (Rur / Roer, Rhein-Mosel, Saar and Donnersberg), the lowest administrative unit arose (departments were divided into arrondissements / roughly administrative districts, these in turn into cantons / roughly districts and these again in Mairien / mayor's offices) in this area the "Mairie d'Ollheim", in Prussian times then mayor's office Ollheim. After the withdrawal of the French occupation troops as a result of the collapse of the Napoleonic Empire in 1814, the Catholic Rhineland was awarded to Protestant Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . On April 20, 1816 the Rheinbach u. a. with the mayor's office in Ollheim, which included eleven villages, four hamlets, ten courtyards, ten churches, prayer houses and chapels, 798 private houses as well as twelve mills, 20 public buildings and 1,162 barns and stables.

On October 1, 1932, the Rheinbach district was dissolved and the area was divided into the Euskirchen and Bonn districts.

The reorganization of the Bonn / Siegburg area resulted in the formation of the Swisttal community on August 1, 1969 from the localities that had previously belonged to the Ludendorf district (before 1961: Ollheim district) and the community of Straßfeld (then in the Euskirchen district ).

Church division

St. Martin in Ollheim

In Ollheim there is a Catholic church which was consecrated to St. Martin of Tours and which, through the pre-existing church building, points in its origin to the Franconian-Merovingian period. The existing church was built around 1906/07 in neo-Romanesque style and renovated in 1974/75.

In St. Martinus there is a historic organ that was built in 1767/68 by the organ builder Christian Ludwig König . The instrument was initially in a women's monastery in Schillingskapellen and only came to Ollheim at the beginning of the 19th century. The instrument is largely original. In 1948 two registers were replaced. 1961–1963 it was restored by the organ builder Klais (Bonn), and a sub-bass 16 'was set up in the (attached) pedal (Cf 0 ). The instrument has 9 registers on a manual (Cd 3 : Principal 4 ', Hohlpfeif 8', Flaut 4 ', Bordun D 16', Gamba 8 ', Quinte 3', Superoctave 2 ', Mixtur III 1', Trompet B / D 8th').

In addition, there is a branch church in Mömerzheim called “Our Lady of Perpetual Help”. She received from Pope Leo XIII. on May 4, 1885 for ever and forever the rank of a pilgrimage chapel and the associated church blessings. The chapel, built in neo-Gothic style, houses the image of Our Lady and was inaugurated in 1886. Since then, the chapel festival in the octave from the 1st to the 2nd Sunday in September has been an integral part of the church festival calendar of the parish of St. Martinus. Following an extensive renovation, the chapel has been available to believers and all visitors again since 1995. The chapel has only one bell, which was cast from bronze by Christian Claren, Sieglar in 1885.

Sports

A sports club has existed in Ollheim since 1912, which in 1989 merged with SC Straßfeld to form SG Ollheim / Straßfeld. The two parent associations currently have around 400 members who come from the surrounding areas (Swisttal community and Euskirchen district). The syndicate currently takes part in handball games with three men's teams and two women's teams as well as twelve youth teams. However, the gaming community is not only dedicated to the sport of handball. The Leisure and Health department has also grown steadily in recent years. Parent-and-child gymnastics, children's gymnastics, adventure sports, aerobics, walking, fitness gymnastics, etc. form an offer for all age groups that is also gladly accepted by non-members.

societies

In addition to the SG Ollheim-Straßfeld, special mention should be made of the “Olleme Bubbelsbröder” carnival society, which has existed since 1980 and has been organizing meetings, festivals and the carnival procession on Carnival Tuesday since then. Furthermore, there is the “Ollheimer fishing club Karpfenfreunde 1996” in Ollheim.
