Olmos is a city in the Lambayeque Province in the Lambayeque region of northwestern Peru . The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The first founding dates from June 27, 1573 as Santo Domingo de Olmos . The city in its current location was founded in 1705. The 2017 census counted 14,473 residents. 10 years earlier the population was 9807.

The city is located about 90 km north of the regional capital Chiclayo on the edge of the coastal desert of northwest Peru at an altitude of 175  m . To the east of the city rises the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The River Olmos flows south of the city. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the area. The Lambayeque – Chulucanas highway passes Olmos.
