Danielsson published ancient Greek and Lydian inscriptions , studied ancient Greek grammar and even translated the ancient Indian Mahabhashya . However, his preoccupation with the Italian languages such as Umbrian , Oscar and especially Etruscan was particularly important . He brought out several of the first volumes of the Corpus Inscriptionum Etruscarum , initiated by Carl Pauli under the umbrella of the Prussian Academy of Sciences , and edited several himself. Danielsson was so important for the creation that after his death in 1933 the editing was stopped and has only been continued since 1970 under the direction of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche .
