Omonville-la-Petite is a village and a former French commune with 127 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Manche department in the Normandy region . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Cherbourg and the Canton of La Hague . The locals traditionally call this place Saint-Martin - after the name of the previous parish and to distinguish it from Omonville-la-Rogue .
With effect from January 1, 2017, the previous municipality of Omonville-la-Petite was merged with the other 18 municipalities of the former Communauté de communes de la Hague to form a commune nouvelle called La Hague and has the status of a commune in the new municipality déléguée . The administrative headquarters are in Beaumont-Hague.

Omonville-la-Petite is located near the north-western tip (Cap de la Hague ) of the Cotentin peninsula , which extends far into the English Channel . Cherbourg-Octeville , the next largest city, is about 25 kilometers from Omonville.

Omonville-la-Petite owns a significant portion of second homes and two hotels . Its economic resources come mainly from the La Hague reprocessing plant located a few kilometers to the south , the area of which, in addition to Omonville, also extends to the areas of neighboring communities. According to 2007 data from the French Ministry of Economy , Omonville-la-Petite is the municipality with the highest per capita income in France (€ 32,654.77).
Personalities
- Jacques Prévert (* 1900 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, † 1977), writer , lived in Omonville-la-Petite from 1971 until his death. He was buried there. Ten years after his death, the Jacques Prévert garden was laid out in neighboring Saint-Germain-des-Vaux .
