Opatowiec is a town in the Kazimierski powiat of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland . The smallest city in the country with 329 inhabitants (2019) is the seat of the city-and-country municipality of the same name with around 3300 inhabitants.
geography
The city is 25 kilometers east of the district town of Kazimierza Wielka and borders the Vistula in the east . It is divided into the districts Krakowska Ulica, Legatka and Przedmieści.

The place belonged from 1975 to 1998 to the Kielce Voivodeship , since 1973 it was the seat of the rural municipality of the same name. Mayor (Burmistrz) is Sławomir Kowalczyk, he was confirmed in office in the local elections in 2018 as community leader (Wójt) .
After 150 years, Opatowiec was given back the town charter that had been revoked in 1869 on January 1, 2019 and since then has been the smallest town in Poland with 329 inhabitants.
