OPPO Electronics Corp. ( Chinese  廣東 歐珀 移動 通信 有限公司 , Pinyin Guǎngdōng Ōupò Yídòng Tōngxìn Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī , English Guangdong Oppo Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. ) is a Chinese electronics manufacturer from Dongguan , Guangdong Province , People's Republic of China . The main product lines are smartphones and Blu-ray players . In 2001 the brand was registered worldwide and founded in 2004. Oppo has had the brand name protected in many parts of the world.

Oppo is a subsidiary of the Chinese  BBK Electronics group , which with the brands Vivo and Oppo is one of the five largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Oppo, in turn, is the parent company of OnePlus .

Regional departments

Oppo Philippines, Oppo Vietnam, Oppo Thailand, Oppo Mora, Oppo India, Oppo ABB in RIL Hazira, Oppo Pakistan, Oppo Bangladesh and Oppo China are the same brand but completely different departments, each producing products for the regional markets. Oppo Digital Inc. is a fully independent company based in Mountain View , California ( USA ) that has licensed the Oppo brand name. Oppo Digital Inc. was founded in California in 2004. In June 2019 it was announced that Oppo would start its European headquarters at Graf-Adolf-Platz in Düsseldorf and from there, within three years, would establish itself on the European market for smartphones with a market share of 15 percent.

Products

Oppo is known for its universal "upscalers" for DVD and Blu-ray players and for a long time in the early days of Blu-ray was the only manufacturer where the regional code of the player was open or switchable. These devices are produced and sold by Oppo Digital and Oppo Electronics . Oppo DVD and Blu-ray players are popular with home theater and high-end enthusiasts. In 2018 Oppo announced that it would discontinue the development and production of DVD and Blu-ray players, but would continue to offer support for sold devices.

Smartphones

In 2008 Oppo entered the mobile phone market. These smartphones have been produced and sold by Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd since 2011. Internationally, the manufacturer only became known in 2019 when the Oppo Reno 5G and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom were announced to the masses at the Mobile World Congress . Both devices were presented on April 10th.

In 2019, Oppo officially announced the Reno2 for Europe at an event in London.

On March 6, 2020, the Oppo Find X2 series, with the Find X2 Lite, Find X2 Neo and Find X2 Pro, was presented in a live stream. A performance at the Mobile World Congress was planned , but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

The Korean boy group 2PM prepared the song Follow your soul for an advertising deal for the brand launch in 2010 in Thailand. In June 2015, a contract was signed with FC Barcelona to become an official partner of the club. In 2019 Oppo was presented as the new "Premium Partner" of the French Open from 2019 to 2021.
