Orbencarb is a chemical compound from the group of thiocarbamates . Orbencarb was developed as a herbicide by Kumiai Chemical and launched in 1970.

Extraction and presentation

Orbencarb can be obtained by reacting dimethylamine with carbonyl sulfide and its product with 2-chlorobenzyl bromide.

use

Orbencarb is used in the cultivation of grain, corn, soy, cotton and potatoes. The effect depends on the soil moisture and decreases when the max. Field capacity drops below 40–45%. Crops such as maize tolerate orbencarb treatment because they oxidize it quickly to sulfoxide or sulfone .
