history

ORGATEC emerged from the West German Office Furniture Fair, which first took place in 1953, with 42 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors. Up to and including 1967 the fair was held under this name. From 1969 to 1975 it took place under the name ORGATECHNIK - Exhibition for Organization and Technology in Office and Business. In 1976, the rotation was changed to the even years and the name was changed to ORGATECHNIK - International Office Fair Cologne. The brand name ORGATEC - the leading international trade fair for offices and contractors - has been used since 1990. ORGATEC has developed into a global trade fair for office and property. The focus is on functional and ergonomic solutions for office work and organization.

Best Office Award

The Best Office Award (spelling: BEST OFFICE Award) is a business award that was awarded every two years from 2004 to 2010 by Wirtschaftswoche and Koelnmesse on the occasion of the international trade fair for office and object ORGATEC. Together with its scientific partner, the Institute for Ergonomics of the Technical University of Darmstadt (IAD), the competition awarded prizes to international companies for pioneering office concepts . The BEST OFFICE Award has been presented in two categories since 2008. One office property each in Germany and abroad was awarded. The competition was aimed at all companies regardless of their size and industry.
