Oriol Cruixent

Oriol Cruixent  : [Uriᴐλ Kruʃén] (born July 23, 1976 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish composer , pianist and conductor .

In 1999 Oriol Cruixent received the Summa Cum Laude award after completing his piano studies (with Carme Vilà) and music theory studies in Barcelona . This was followed by training in violin and singing and participation in piano courses with Ramón Coll and Paul Badura-Skoda and choir and orchestral direction with Manuel Cabero and Uwe Mund .

From 2003 to 2004 he worked as an assistant to Ulrich Nicolai . From 2005 to 2008 he worked as a musical assistant in the Prinzregententheater in Munich, where he also assisted other conductors, for example Markus Poschner , Ulf Schirmer , Oswald Sallaberger and Alexander Liebreich.

In 2004 he finished his studies in composition with Dieter Acker at the University of Music and Theater Munich in Munich , followed by a master class in 2006 . In addition, he also took orchestral conducting lessons from Ulrich Nicolai .

From 2000 to 2002 he was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation .

His works include solo, chamber, choral music, large orchestras and operas and have been broadcast on the radio and performed internationally, including in Catalonia, Spain, Germany, Croatia, Romania and the USA. Oriol Cruixent has also composed for major orchestras, including the German Chamber Orchestra Berlin and the Munich Radio Orchestra .

  • 1998 Honorary award for harmony and fugue award (both at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona )
  • 1996 1st prize in the international choral composition competition of the Federació Catalana d'Entitats Corals for “L'infinit”,
  • 2001 2nd prize at the international Franz Josef Reinl composition competition in Vienna for the quartet "Ressons de l'ànima".
  • 2007 1st prize at "The 2007 Dimitris Mitropoulos International Competition for Composing" in Athens for characters in the sand for tenor and symphonic orchestra
  • 2009 finalist at the "Johann-Joseph-Fux International Opera Composition Competition" in Graz for his opera Spiegel im Spiegel .
