Orlando Pizzolato
Orlando Pizzolato (born July 30, 1958 in Thiene ) is a former Italian marathon runner .
Life
In 1979 he was fifth in the Mediterranean Games and in 1980 eighth in the Spanish Open Championships. His breakthrough came in 1984 when he won the New York City Marathon . In 1985 he was sixth at the IAAF World Cup marathon in Hiroshima, won gold at the Universiade in Kobe and defended his title in New York City. The following year he was third in the Boston Marathon , took silver at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart and was third in New York City.
A seventh place at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 was followed by a sixth place in New York City in the fall. In 1988 he finished seventh in Boston, finished 16th at the Olympic Games in Seoul and won the Venice Marathon .
In 1979, 1983 and 1984 he won the Giro di Castelbuono .
Orlando Pizzolato is a qualified physiotherapist and masseur.
