Orliwka ( Ukrainian Орлівка ; Russian Орловка Orlowka , Romanian Cartal ) is a village in Budschak in the extreme southwest of Ukraine with about 3000 inhabitants (2006).
Orliwka lies between the north bank of the Danube , which forms the border between Ukraine and Romania , and Lake Kahul ( Ukrainian Кагул ). The village is located in the Odessa Oblast in Reni Raion on the highway M 15 between the Rajonzentrum Reni and the city of Izmail .
The nearest (Ukrainian) village is Nowosilske on Lake Kuhurluj, 11 km northeast of Orliwka. The Odessa Oblast Center is located about 280 kilometers northeast of the village, which was founded in 1814 under the original name of Kartal. The Romanian city of Isaccea is located on the opposite bank of the Danube .
