Orozimbo Fuenzalida

Orozimbo Fuenzalida y Fuenzalida (born May 22, 1925 in Bantval , † March 27, 2013 in Santiago de Chile ) was Bishop of San Bernardo .

Life

Orozimbo Fuenzalida y Fuenzalida studied philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Santiago and at the Theological Faculty of the Catholic University of Chile . On March 10, 1951, he was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of Rancagua by Bishop Eduardo Larrain . He worked in the diocese of Rancagua , among other things as pastor in Pichilemu , diocesan advisor to Catholic Action and diocesan vicar for rural pastoral care.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 13, 1968 as prelate of Calama and titular bishop of Burca . The Archbishop of Antofagasta Francisco de Borja Valenzuela Ríos ordained him on 19 May of the same year Bishop ; Co- consecrators were Alejandro Durán Moreira , Bishop of Los Ángeles , and José del Carmen Valle Gallardo , Bishop of Iquique .

On February 26, 1970 he was appointed Bishop of Los Ángeles and on April 18, 1970 he was appointed to office. On July 13, 1987, he was appointed Bishop of San Bernardo by Pope John Paul II . On October 10, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

In 1979 he participated in the Second General Conference of Latin American Bishops in Puebla. He held various positions in the Chilean Bishops' Conference. On March 18, 1989, he founded the San Bernardo Seminary.
