The Diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama ( Latin Dioecesis Sancti Ioannis Calamensis , Spanish diócesis de San Juan Bautista de Calama ) is in Chile located Roman Catholic diocese based in Calama .

history

The diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama was formed on July 21, 1965 from areas of the dioceses of Antofagasta and Iquique as the territorial prelature of Calama . On June 28, 1967, the territorial prelature changed from the Archdiocese of La Serena to the Archdiocese of Antofagasta as the Metropolitan Archdiocese .

The territorial prelature Calama was on February 20, 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. raised to the diocese and renamed the diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama .
