The Diocese of Copiapo ( lat. : Dioecesis Copiapoënsis , span. : Diócesis de Copiapo ) is in Chile located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Copiapo .

history

The diocese of Copiapó was on November 9, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. Erected from the cession of territory by the Archdiocese of La Serena as the Apostolic Administratur Copiapó . On April 21, 1955, the Apostolic Administration Copiapó was by Pius XII. elevated to the territorial prelature with the Apostolic Constitution Dum haud paucis .

The territorial prelature Copiapó was on October 31, 1957 by Pius XII. raised to the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Qui cotidie . The Diocese of Copiapó is subordinate to the Archdiocese of La Serena as a suffragan .
