Fernando Ariztía Ruiz (born May 27, 1925 in Santiago de Chile , † November 25, 2003 in Copiapó ) was a Chilean clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Copiapó .

Life

Fernando Ariztía Ruiz was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile on September 22, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 25, 1967 auxiliary bishop in Santiago de Chile and titular bishop of Timici . The Archbishop of Santiago de Chile, Raúl Cardinal Silva Henríquez SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on July 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Carlos González Cruchaga , Bishop of Talca , and Gabriel Larraín Valdivieso , Auxiliary Bishop in Santiago de Chile.

As a motto he chose Para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia . The Pope appointed him Bishop of Copiapó on December 11, 1976. On May 26, 2001, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
