The Diocese of San Bartolomé de Chillán ( lat. : Dioecesis Sancti Bartholomaie de Chillán , Spanish : diócesis de San Bartolomé de Chillán ) is in Chile located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Chillán .

history

The diocese of Chillán was founded in 1916 by Pope Benedict XV. from the cession of territory by the diocese of Concepción as Mission sui juris Chillán . On October 18, 1925, the Mission sui juris Chillán by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolici Muneris Ratio raised to the diocese. The diocese of Chillán is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Concepción as a suffragan .

On November 1, 2017, the Diocese of Chillán was renamed the Diocese of San Bartolomé de Chillán .
