history

The Apostolic Prefecture Aysén was on February 17, 1940 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Alteris Nostris from cessions of territory of the diocese of San Carlos de Ancud . On May 8, 1955, the Apostolic Prefecture Aysén was by Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution in amplitudinem raised to the Apostolic Vicariate.
