The Roman Catholic Diocese of Villarrica ( lat. : Dioecesis Villarricensis , span. : Diócesis de Villarrica ) is in Chile located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , based in Villarrica .

history

The diocese Villarica was on July 16, 1901 by Pope Leo XIII. Detached from the diocese of Concepción and established as the Apostolic Prefecture of Araucanía . On March 28, 1928, the prefecture was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate .

On November 19, 2001 the Apostolic Vicariate Araucania was established by Pope John Paul II as the diocese of Vallerrica . The diocese of Vallerrica is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Concepción as a suffragan .
