The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Puerto Montt ( lat. : Archidioecesis Portus Montt , span. : Arquidiócesis de Puerto Montt ) is an in Chile located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church , located in Puerto Montt .

history

The diocese of Puerto Montt was founded on April 1, 1939 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Summi Pontificatus from cessions of territory of the diocese of San Carlos de Ancud . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Concepción as a suffragan . The diocese gave up on November 15, 1955 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Osorno .

On May 10, 1963 the diocese of Puerto Montt was by Pope John XXIII. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolicae Sedis .
