Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada SSCC (born August 26, 1963 in Coronel , Province of Concepción ) is a Chilean religious and Roman Catholic bishop of San Bartolomé de Chillán .

Life

Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada first studied industrial engineering before joining the congregation of the Arnstein Fathers in 1982 . He made temporary profession on March 2, 1985 . After Pérez de Arce Arriagada had made perpetual profession on April 29, 1989, he received the sacrament of ordination on December 15, 1990 in Valparaíso .

After his ordination, Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada was initially active in some colleges of his religious community. In 2005 he became Superior Provincial and in 2009 he was also the Economist of the Conference of Major Superiors . From 2012 to 2018 Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada was Rector of the Sagrado Corazón Church in Valparaíso and a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Colleges of the Arnstein Fathers. In addition, from 2013 to 2015 he was a member of the National Council for Abuse Prevention. Pope Francis called him Apostolic Administrator of San Bartolomé de Chillán on September 21, 2018 .

On February 5, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of San Bartolomé de Chillán. The Apostolic Nuncio in Chile, Archbishop Alberto Ortega Martín , gave him on 11 July of the same year in the Cathedral San Carlos de Borromeo in Chillán the episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Concepción , Fernando Natalio Chomali Garib and the auxiliary bishop in Santiago de Chile , Galo Fernández Villaseca .
