Oskar Detering

Heinrich Oskar Detering , nickname also in the spelling Oscar (born May 25, 1872 in Barmen , Rhine Province ; † April 6, 1943 in Düsseldorf ), was a German painter from the Düsseldorf School . He created portraits , historical , landscape , marine , animal , genre and industrial images and was also active in the field of printmaking .

Life

From 1892 to 1894 Detering studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There he was a student of Heinrich Lauenstein . He settled in Düsseldorf, where he was a member and temporarily chairman of the artists' association Malkasten . Detering emerged particularly through industrial painting, around 1916 through the depiction of armaments workers in the painting Behind the Front . In addition to industrial landscapes laid out in the late impressionist style , including a Germania shipyard seen from the Kiel side , he created numerous depictions of industrial interiors with effective lighting.
