Oskar Kaesler

Oskar Kaesler (* 1889 ; † July 24, 1960 ) was a German actor , director and general manager .

Life

In 1907, 18-year-old Oskar Kaesler was hired as an actor at a theater . After the Second World War , in 1945, the now well-known Mime was given the role of drama director at the Chemnitz City Theater , a multi-branch house. Soon he took over the union supervision of the Chemnitz artists, who elected him as chairman of the works council . A few years later he was appointed general director appointed. In 1956 he played in the Brecht play Die Tage der Kommune , directed by Manfred Wekwerth and Benno Besson , which meant that he and other actors in this performance were engaged by the Berliner Ensemble from 1957 . His farewell to the Karl-Marx-Städter audience took place on the day of his 50th stage anniversary.
