Oskar Wacker
Oskar Wacker (born October 20, 1898 in Eubigheim , † August 26, 1972 in Bad Mergentheim ) was a German politician ( center , later CDU ).
Life and work
Wacker first attended the Lender college in Sasbach and then took part in the First World War as a soldier . After graduating from high school in Heidelberg in 1918 , he worked as a civil servant at the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1920 . When the National Socialists came to power, he was dismissed from railroad service for political reasons and expelled from Heidelberg. Then he worked as a farmer and innkeeper in Berolzheim . In 1938 he was reprimanded for active resistance. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . After the end of the war, Wacker worked as a farmer and innkeeper in Buchen . Since 1946 he acted as managing director of the local district self-government.
Political party
Wacker joined the Windthorstbund in 1921 , had been its chairman in Heidelberg since 1926 and a member of the Baden state board. He joined the Center Party in 1922 and was also a member of the Baden state executive. After 1945 he was one of the founders of the CDU North Baden . In contrast to the majority of his party, he spoke out against the formation of Baden-Württemberg and in favor of the restoration of a whole Baden state from the state of Baden and the Baden part of Württemberg-Baden .
MP
During the Weimar Republic , Wacker was a member of the city council of Heidelberg. In 1946 he was a member of the state constitutional assembly in Württemberg-Baden and was then a member of the state parliament until 1950 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1957. In parliament he represented the constituency of Tauberbischofsheim .
