Ossendrecht is a district of the municipality Woensdrecht in the southwest of the Netherlands .
Location and description
The place is located in the province of Noord-Brabant in the immediate vicinity of the Belgian border. It is located about 3 kilometers south of Hoogerheide (the largest district and seat of the municipality), 15 km south of Bergen op Zoom and 20 km north of the city center of Antwerp . Ossendrecht has 5,195 inhabitants on an area of 29.58 km² (as of January 1, 2017) and is therefore the second largest district of Woensdrecht after Hoogerheide.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1187. On January 1, 1997, the previously independent Ossendrecht became part of the newly created large community of Woensdrecht.

The next motorway exits are Hoogerheide on the A 58 / A 4 and Zandvliet in Belgium on the A 12 . The Provinciale Weg N 289 runs east of the village . Railway stations are in Bergen op Zoom on the railway line to Vlissingen and in Kalmthout, Belgium on the Antwerp- Rotterdam / Breda line . Antwerp and Rotterdam also have the nearest commercial airports .
