history

Ottersberg is on the Topographia Ducatus Montani of Erich Philipp Ploennies from the year 1715 Ottersberg referred. Later maps such as the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian new survey from 1893 refer to the place as Otterberg .

Otterberg was to the north of an old road , the Alte Kölnische Strasse from Cologne via Hilden , Erkrath - Hochdahl , Mettmann - Diepensiepen and Wülfrath - Oberdüssel to Westphalia.

In the 19th century Otterberg belonged to the suburbs of the Untensiebeneick farming community in the Hardenberg mayor's office , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888 a house with 30 inhabitants is given for Otterberg.

Due to the regional reform of North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975 and the eastern suburbs of Neviges around Otterberg were incorporated into Wuppertal.

In the late 1960s or early 1970s, the place fell into desolation. The former courtyard area is now part of the golf course of the Bergisch Land Golf Club .
