Ottman Azaitar

Ottman Azaitar (born February 20, 1990 in Cologne , Germany ) is a German- Moroccan professional MMA fighter. He was German champion in Thai boxing and world champion of the Brave Combat Federation in the lightweight class.

Life

Azaitar grew up in the Dellbrück district of Cologne until he moved to Weiden with his family . He attended the König-Fahd-Akademie in Bonn until he was fifteen . At the academy, all school subjects are taught exclusively in Arabic . This unusual school career initially had a negative impact on his knowledge of German, which made itself felt when he switched to the Hildegard von Bingen grammar school in Cologne. However, the initial language difficulties were overcome and he left high school after graduating from high school in 2012 with a grade point average of 1.9.

After graduating from high school, he began studying business administration .

Sports career

He began his sports career at the age of six. Up to the age of ten he learned the techniques of ju-jitsu martial arts. He then switched to boxing , Thai boxing and kickboxing , in which he won several important titles up to 2012. These include his titles as a Thai boxing champion in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2011 and as a German Thai boxing champion in the following year. At the same time Ottman Azaitar was called up to the German national Thai boxing team and took part in the world championship in Saint Petersburg .

Ottman Azaitar has been fighting in MMA sports under various organizations since 2012. He led fights under the international MMA organization “Brave Combat Federation” and won the “Fight of the Year 2016” title in this series of events after scoring his Argentine opponent Kevin Koldobsky in the third round at a co-main event hit. Other fights took place among MMA organizations known throughout Europe, such as the German MMA Championship .

In his title fight on November 17, 2017 in Bahrain, Ottman Azaitar won the first world championship title in the lightweight class of the Brave Combat Federation. On August 18, 2018, he defeated Danijel Kokora at Brave14 in Morocco. Then he took off the brave belt and switched to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

In 2014, at the invitation of friends, Ottman Azaitar had the opportunity to get to know boxing legend Muhammad Ali personally in his birthplace in Louisville , Kentucky, and to attend the subsequent benefit event with Bruno Mars . Azaitar trained worldwide in his fight preparations in various gyms, including the Gym in Las Vegas by Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Ottman Azaitar is the younger brother of MMA fighter Abu Azaitar.
