Otto Baumann (born October 16, 1901 in Regensburg ; † July 1, 1992 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Baumann completed an apprenticeship as a decorative painter from 1920 to 1927 and studied with Robert Seuffert at the arts and crafts school in Cologne . From 1927 to 1934 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Ludwig von Herterich and Karl Caspar . Another training period took him to Paris between 1927 and 1930 at the Académie Colarossi .

From 1929 various trips to France, Italy, Spain, England, Yugoslavia and Greece followed. From 1930 to 1931 he went to France, Normandy and Paris with his friend, the painter Fritz Harnest .

Baumann lived as a freelance artist in Oberndorf near Regensburg from 1934 to 1959 . He was married to the teacher Maria Baumann, who initially worked at the Ziegetsdorf school until 1971 , after which it was closed at the St. Wolfgang School, a school located in the Kumpfmühl district of Regensburg .
