For Eder, the figure was the starting point, which he reduced and transformed into something symbolic. His model was classical Greek sculpture. In doing so, he reduced the human figure to its essential component and looked for the original form of life in the egg shape. He made figures out of wood, stone and concrete. Eder succeeded in building on modern sculpture with his so-called dowel sculptures from 1950 and with his later figurations .

He created more than 150 works in his life as an artist, disregarding his work on architecture . In 1982 he put an end to his life by suicide.
