Life

Otto Ernst von Dewitz (No. 497 of the gender census ) came from the Miltzow house of the Mecklenburg - Pomeranian noble family von Dewitz . He was the third child and second son of Otto Ulrich von Dewitz and Baroness Barbara von Maltzahn adH Rottmanshagen (1764-1811). As early as 1799, he was accepted into the Order of St. John as a knight of the Brandenburg Ballot.

In 1827 he was landlord on Cantreck (later Kantreck, district of Cammin i. Pom. ) And was elected the first director of the knightly private bank in Szczecin . Later he was President of the Bank's Board of Trustees.

From 1832 he had the mansion and park in Krumbeck redesigned based on designs by Peter Joseph Lenné .

On January 21, 1841, Grand Duke Georg von Mecklenburg-Strelitz awarded him the title of Chief Captain in order to give him "a special proof of the highest of your respect and your gracious benevolence" .

In a by-election in the constituency of Mecklenburg-Schwerin 81: Basedow for the Mecklenburg parliamentary assembly, he was elected a member of parliament in November 1848. He joined the conservative faction of the right and became a member of a special committee for the establishment of a Mecklenburg bank; on June 21, 1849 he resigned from his mandate. After the collapse of the democratic movement and the restoration of the old constitution after the Freienwalder arbitration ruling, he was still active in the state parliaments and became the spokesman for a knightly group that made its own ideas about improving the tax and customs conditions in Mecklenburg, but without success.

Since October 2, 1822 he was with Alexandrine, geb. Baroness von Maltzahn (1800–1874) married. The marriage remained childless. Gut Krumbeck fell by inheritance to his nephew Ulrich Otto von Dewitz (1814–1871).
