Otto Leiner

Otto Leiner (born June 26, 1856 in Konstanz ; † January 30, 1931 there ) was a German pharmacist , museum director and archivist.

Otto Leiner was the son of the Constance pharmacist, local politician and museum founder Ludwig Leiner (* 1830, † 1901) and his wife Thekla, b. Baur (* 1833, † 1896). He attended high school in Constance, then learned pharmacy from his father and worked as a pharmaceutical assistant in Münster, Flensburg, Ichenheim (Neuried) and Bern. From 1878 to 1880 he studied pharmacy in Munich and then returned to Konstanz, where he supported his father in managing the Malhaus pharmacy, which he took over entirely in 1893, and in managing the Rosgarten Museum , whose second honorary curator he was Was ordered in 1892. In the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings , he relieved his father of the management in Constance from 1898, before he was appointed to the board in 1906 as a representative of the Grand Duchy of Baden. Otto Leiner was also in honorary office from 1893 to 1905 city archivist of Konstanz, then from 1912 to 1926 "state curator for art and antiquity monuments". After his father's death in 1901, he took over his seat on the Konstanz city council. In 1918, Grand Duke Friedrich II of Baden awarded him the First Class Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion .

Otto Leiner married Martha, b. Schiffmann, with whom he had three sons and two daughters, of whom Bruno (* 1890, † 1954) succeeded him in all important matters. His grandchildren include Sigrid von Blanckenhagen (* 1918, † 2005) and Ulrich Leiner (* 1921, † 1994).
