Otto Mathias Wilbertz

Otto Mathias Wilbertz (born October 22, 1944 in Lauterbach (Hesse) ) is a German prehistorian .

Career

Otto Mathias Wilbertz grew up in the Rhineland . After graduating from high school in 1964, he did his military service and began studying prehistory, early history , history and classical archeology in Bochum in 1966 . From 1967 he studied prehistory and early history, Near Eastern archeology and art history in Saarbrücken. From 1968 he also studied ethnology and medieval history in Giessen . In the first semesters he took part in excavations of Tell Kāmid el-Lōz in the Lebanese Bekaa plain . In 1973 Wilbertz wrote his master's thesis on urn field culture in the Fichtel Mountains . In 1977 he received his doctorate with a thesis on urnfield culture in Lower Franconia . He started his career as an assistant at Saarbrücken University .

In 1980 Otto Mathias Wilbertz switched to monument preservation and went to the Institute for Monument Preservation in Hanover , which was founded in 1979 , the forerunner of the Lower Saxony State Office for Monument Preservation . There he became department head for inventory and headed a recording team for the districts of Lüneburg, Osterholz and Wolfenbüttel. In the 1990s he was in Lower Saxony in building the ADAB ( A eneral D enkm A ldaten B involved ank) as an information system of state historic preservation, as in 2000 ADABweb was web-enabled. He retired in 2009.

In technical archeology , Otto Mathias Wilbertz deals with Harpstedter rough pots and burial mounds with keyhole trenches .
