Otto Meyer (born March 22, 1867 in Hann. Münden ; † September 3, 1932 in Kufstein ) was a German engineer and manager .

education

Otto Meyer, son of a town planning officer , attended the Technical University of Karlsruhe and the Technical University of Braunschweig after finishing high school in Wolfenbüttel . In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Germania fraternity (today Teutonia ). For further professional training Meyer visited the industrial areas in Germany, Switzerland , Austria and Italy .

Professional background

After his training Otto Meyer worked in the Stettiner Chamotte factory and in the gas and waterworks in Essen and Cologne . In 1900 he took over the management of the Charlottenburg gas works . Three years later he became head of Dortmund AG for gas lighting . In 1916 he became head of the AG for gas and electricity in Cologne, and in 1918 of the municipal waterworks in Dortmund . This united Meyer with the neighboring district waterworks Hörde to the Dortmunder Wasserwerkgesellschaft mbH .

In 1929 Otto Meyer left the executive board of Dortmunder AG for gas lighting and switched to its supervisory board. He was also a member of the board of directors of the gas works for the unified Hellweg municipalities AG in Dortmund and the AG Vulkan in Cologne-Ehrenfeld .

Meyer was a member of the supervisory board of G. Kromschröder AG in Osnabrück , the AG for Gas and Electricity Cologne and Berlin , the Economic Association of German Gas Works (Gaskoks Syndicate) in Frankfurt am Main and Westfalenhalle AG in Dortmund.

Associations and honors

Otto Meyer was involved in the boards of the branch associations of the German Association of Gas and Water Experts , including as chairman. He was chairman of the Steam Boiler Monitoring Association in Dortmund and of the Westphalian District Association of German Engineers .

Otto Meyer was an honorary member of the Association of German Light and Water Specialists and owner of the large plaque of the city of Dortmund. Since 1893 he was a member of the Freemason Lodge Wilhelm to the three pillars in Wolfenbüttel .
