Otto von Henneberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otto von Henneberg († March 3, 1200 ) was Bishop of Speyer from 1190 to 1200.

Otto came from the Franconian counts of the von Henneberg family , who a few decades earlier had provided a bishop in Speyer with his brother Günther von Henneberg and who were also represented as bishops of Würzburg several times in the 12th century .

Otto is one of a number of Speyer bishops who were closely related to the Hohenstaufen emperors.

The prince-bishop's coat of arms is usually quartered . The fields of the coat of arms alternate with the family coat of arms of the von Henneberg family and the coat of arms of the diocese of Speyer, a silver cross on a blue background. The talking family coat of arms of the Counts of Henneberg shows a hen on gold.
