Gebhard I. (Speyer)

Gebhard I. (* before 846; † before 888), also Gebehard, was the 14th bishop of Speyer .

In 846 he consecrated a cathedral in Speyer .

On October 1, 847 and October 3, 852, he took part in the first imperial synods of the East Franconian Empire in Mainz, led by Hrabanus Maurus .

In 860 he took part in the Peace of Koblenz .

In 863 he negotiated as envoy of King Ludwig the German with his brother Charles the Bald .

On May 25, 868, Ludwig the German officially confirmed an exchange of goods at Wachenheim and Schifferstadt between Bishop Gebhard and a Count Christian.

In 877 he visited Rome.
