Ousmane Issoufi Maiga

Ousmane Issoufi Maïga (* 1945 near Gao ) was Prime Minister of Mali until September 2007 . He was appointed Prime Minister on April 29, 2004 after holding several ministerial posts in previous governments.

Issoufi studied economics at the University of Kiev and then at the American University in Washington, DC , where he received a degree in banking and insurance. He worked for the World Bank and in the French Ministry of Finance.

In 2002 he became Minister for Youth and Sport in Mali and organized the African Football Championship that will take place there that year .

After Amadou Toumani Touré was elected President of Mali, he became a member of the government of Prime Minister Ahmed Mohamed ag Hamani on June 14, 2002 . After the cabinet reshuffle on October 16 of the same year, he became Minister of Transport and Infrastructure .
