Younoussi Touré

Younoussi Touré (born January 1, 1941 in Niadougou, Niafunké County ) is a Malian politician .

biography

After attending school in Niafunké from 1947 to 1953, the Sudanese Craft School (École des artisans soudanais) until 1955 and the École Normale of Sévaré (1956 to 1960) and the École Normale of Katibougou until 1962, he finished his school education in 1964 at the Lycée Askia Mohamed . He then completed his studies at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar and the Technical School of the Banque de France , from which he graduated with a degree in economics .

After his return to Mali in 1970 he worked for the Malian Central Bank, where he was promoted to general director from 1983 to 1984. After the return of his home country to the currency system of the CFA Franc BCEAO in 1984 he became National Director of the West African Central Bank (Banque Centrale des Etats de l'Afrique de l'Ouest) (BCEAO).

On June 9, 1992, he was appointed Prime Minister as successor to Soumana Sacko by President Alpha Oumar Konaré and held this office for around ten months until his resignation on April 12, 1993, when he was appointed by the former director of the ENA Abdoulaye Sékou Sow replaced. He was then Special Advisor to the President of the BCEAO between 1993 and 1995.

On January 30, 1995 he became a member of the six-member commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), founded in 1994, and held this office until 2003. In mid-2003, he was one of the founders of the Union pour la République et la party alongside long-time minister Soumaïla Cissé Démocratie (URD) ​​and became its President, as Cissé is not allowed to exercise this office due to his position as President of the Commission of the UEMOA. In the local elections on May 30, 2004, his UDR already received 14 percent of the vote.

In the elections to the National Assembly, he was elected, along with twelve other politicians, in the first ballot on July 1, 2007, on the list of the URD for the constituency of Niafunké as a member of parliament. When the National Assembly was constituted in September 2007, he was elected First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and thus the direct representative of Speaker of Parliament Dioncounda Traoré .

For his political merits, he was appointed Grand Officer of the National Order of Mali (Ordre National du Mali) and officer of the French Legion of Honor (Légion d'Honneur Française).
