action
Veronica Van Huet runs the "Lady Margaret Oakes" school for girls with an attached boarding school. She took over the institution in need of renovation as heir and is fighting against financial bottlenecks. Veronica is a second married to the unsuccessful American painter Matthew.
18-year-old student Louise Thompson stays at boarding school during the holidays. She claims to have to learn. However, that is only a pretended reason. In truth, she wants to stay with Matthew, with whom she is having an affair. When Veronica learns about this, her husband ends the relationship with Louise.
Shortly after an argument with Veronica, Matthew allegedly left for Florence on a spontaneous basis. Louise does not believe this information, however. Rather, she thinks that Veronica murdered her husband and feels threatened by her from then on.
