The Outer Bangkok Ring Road ( Thai ถนน วงแหวน รอบ นอก กรุงเทพมหานคร , RTGS Thanon Wong Waen Rop Nok Krung Thep Maha Nakhon , English Outer Bangkok Ring Road or ถนน กา ญ จ นาภิ เษ ก , Thanon Kanchanaphisek , "Golden Jubilee Road" or Highway 9 , ทางหลวง พิเศษ หมายเลข 9 , Thang Luang Phiset Mai Lek 9 ) is a ring road that runs around Bangkok and is intended to relieve the traffic situation in the Thai capital. The project started in 1996, the year of the 50th throne jubilee of King Bhumibol Adulyadej , hence the Thai name of the street.

It is subject to toll in the east and south . The southern section is designed as an expressway under the name South Kanchanaphisek Ring and has been open to traffic since November 16, 2007. In this area from Suksawat to Bang Phli, the route crosses the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao Phraya River ). This ring road was built as a bypass route for the greater Bangkok area in order to relieve the metropolitan area from through traffic and in all directions. The western bypass is also part of the Asian trunk road project AH2 . It crosses all major road connections , from the north in a clockwise direction:

The ring road crosses the Chao Phraya River in two places. The northern crossing is the Chiang Rak Bridge on the border of the provinces of Pathum Thani and Ayutthaya. The southern one is the Kanchanaphisek Bridge and is the closest crossing of the Chao Phraya so far. It is designed as a cable-stayed bridge and has a length of 941 meters.
