Owadi Gerzewitsch Savitsch

Owadi Gerzewitsch Sawitsch ( Russian Овадий Герцович Савич ; scientific transliteration Ovadij Gercovič Savič ; born July 29, 1896 in Warsaw ; died July 19, 1967 in Moscow ) was a Soviet writer , journalist and literary translator .

Live and act

Owadi Sawitsch studied law in Moscow , began an acting career and traveled abroad a lot. He took as TASS - Correspondent on the Spanish Civil War in part. He processed his experiences in this in his book Ljudi Internazionalnych brigad (People of the International Brigades ) and other works. He worked as a front-line reporter during World War II . For the Black Book he prepared several descriptions for printing.

His interest in Spanish culture found expression in translations by Spanish poets such as Antonio Machado and Rafael Alberti . He also translated Latin American authors, including Pablo Neruda , Gabriela Mistral , Nicolás Guillén , Luis Carlos López and others.
