Pískovec (German swimmer ) was a district of the municipality Potůčky ( Breitenbach ) in Okres Karlovy Vary , Czech Republic .

geography

Today's desert is located in the Bohemian Ore Mountains southeast of the village of Potůčky, near the summit of the Písková skála (sand rock) . The small settlement was about 950 m above sea level and consisted of five houses, one of which was a little apart.

history

From the Schwarzwassertal from the deep Streitpinger Erbstollen was driven.

The place, which in the 19th century still had different spellings such as Schwimmerig, Schwimmering or Schwimmerich, got its name from the tin soaps (Schwemme, schwemmen).

The mention of two shafts in 1380, the earliest mention of such systems for the ridge region of the Ore Mountains, is significant in terms of mining history . The area that belonged to the Electorate of Saxony for a long time was probably settled as early as 1390 . After the Schmalkaldic War , in 1546 the southern part of the Schwarzenberg district office became part of the Crown of Bohemia . Even today one can find extensive evidence of centuries of mining in this area, especially on tin. From 1585 to 1593, forty suspicions of silver mines were confirmed by Schwimmiger. On the way to Luhy, you first pass the fish puller Pinge and then the Streitpinge . The latter has a length of 160 m and steep walls up to 30 m high. It was probably built in open-cast mining as early as the 16th century. Down in the Schwarzwassertal , about 130 m below the level of Pískovec, the Streitpinger Stolln was driven forward as an hereditary tunnel . However, this did not penetrate , especially since the tin mineralization decreased significantly with depth. In addition, there was insignificant mining for silver, cobalt, and bismuth.

After the war ended in 1945, the German population was expelled and the place fell into desolation.
