Culture and sights

One of the local monuments is the baroque parish church Igreja Paroquial da Póvoa de Atalaia (also Igreja de Santo Estêvão ) from the 17th century. A stone fountain, the historic primary school, and the Capela de São Jacinto chapel are other listed buildings.

The two local festivals are the annual Festa das Papas in January and the Festa em honra de Santo Estêvão , which takes place in September and is dedicated to St. Stephen .
