Other names PV Telescopii

PV Telescopii is a star believed to be more than 20,000 light years away . It is the prototype of the PV Telescopii stars , which belong to the pulsation-variable stars .

The star appears to be in a late stage, before transitioning to a white dwarf . Presumably the star has already been in this state in the past and became a supergiant again with this special characteristic when it collided with a second white dwarf .
