The PZL Kania ( German  Milan ) is a Polish multi-purpose helicopter .

development

The PZL Kania is essentially a further development of the Mil Mi-2 ; For example, the helicopter cell has been completely redesigned. New drive units from Rolls-Royce Allison are also used. In addition to new composite rotor blades, the PZL Kania was also equipped with western avionics .

Development work for this type of helicopter began in 1969, and a dummy was presented in November 1975 . The first prototype finally flew on June 3, 1979. The aircraft was tested in the early 1980s until it received FAR-29 approval in February 1986. The PZL Kania is manufactured in small numbers in Poland at PZL Świdnik . An upgrade for the Mi-2 helicopter is also offered. In addition to its use in Poland, the PZL Kania is also used in Slovakia , the Czech Republic , Venezuela and Cyprus .
