Pablo Alfonso Jourdán Alvariza

Pablo Alfonso Jourdán Alvariza (born January 23, 1964 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Montevideo .

Life

Pablo Alfonso Jourdan Alvariza first studied medicine and in 1993 at the University of the Republic for MD PhD . His philosophical-theological studies at the Faculty of Mons. Mariano Soler in Montevideo he graduated with a baccalaureate in 1995 and received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Minas on November 5, 1995 .

After further studies in moral theology and spirituality he acquired in 2001 the licentiate at the University of Navarra . In addition to pastoral work, he has been responsible for biblical pastoral care in the Diocese of Minas since 2008. Since 2013 he has also worked at the Center for Biblical Theological Pastoral Care (CEBITEPAL) of the Latin American Bishops' Council (CELAM).

On 24 July 2018 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Medianas Zabuniorum and auxiliary bishop in Montevideo. The Archbishop of Montevideo, Daniel Fernando Cardinal Sturla Berhouet SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on September 30th of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Minas, Jaime Rafael Fuentes Martín , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Montevideo, Nicolás Cotugno Fanizzi SDB.
