Press reports about Pablo González Saldaña

González began his career with his hometown club Club Deportivo Corona and was discovered in a game in the Liga Amateur de Jalisco by a talent scout from Club Deportivo Marte . This brought him to Mexico City , where González played in the capital league in the 1938/39 and 1939/40 seasons .

In 1940 he returned to his hometown of El Salto, where he worked at club level for the Club Deportivo Río Grande in the Liga Amateur de Jalisco and also for the Selección Jalisco in the Liga Mayor , the strongest and most attractive league in the country, which was still officially operated on an amateur basis , played. In this he scored 21 goals in the three seasons from 1940 to 1943 for the Jalisco national team; including two three-packs in the games against Club América (1941/42) and Club Asturias (1942/43).

As with the start of the 1943-44 season of professional football was introduced, González moved to Club Deportivo Guadalajara , he scored for in his first two seasons of 16 goals in the league game round. Special encounters were the Clásico Tapatío on December 5, 1943 against the city rivals Club Atlas , in which González, with his three hits, made a significant contribution to the 7-3 success of his team. In the same season he even contributed four goals to the 5-1 success of his team in a game on February 13, 1944 against Club Deportivo Veracuz . In particular, Pablotas was remembered mainly due to the fact that he scored the first two goals for Club Guadalajara in the Mexican professional league in the game at CF Atlante on October 21, 1943 . The opening encounter of the team from Guadalajara ended with a 4-1 success.

González completed his highest-scoring game a few months later in a game of the Copa México played on June 4, 1944 , which was won 8-2 against Club León . In this one-sided cup game, he scored six goals and in the first eight minutes a flawless hat trick to give his team an early 3-0 lead. González had already scored five goals at half time, when his club was 6-1 ahead.

In the 1945/46 season he succeeded again a three-pack against Club America , which would later develop into arch rivals of Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Otherwise he only scored a total of 14 goals this and the next season, not half as many as in the previous two years, when he was 32 times successful.

In the summer of 1947 González moved to city rivals Club Deportivo Oro , for which he was "stronger than ever" in the 1947/48 season and scored a total of 23 hits, through which he almost shot Oro to the champions. But at the end of the season, if there was a tie, neither the goal difference (which Club León would have seen up front) nor the direct comparison (which Oro had won), so a play-off was necessary, which Club León decided in its favor (in the second attempt). The direct comparison was clearly won by Club Oro and half of the goals (4-0 in the first half of the season and 2-0 in the second half of the season) went to González, who started his career in the following season 1948/49 ( with nine goals) at Club Deportivo Oro.

El Paquidermo then returned to his home town of El Salto, where he worked in a textile factory until he retired. He died of bone cancer in 1994.
