The Paljawaam ( Russian Паляваам ) is a river in the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug in northeast Siberia .

It has its origin in the Chukotka highlands . From there it flows in a westerly direction through a sparsely populated area of the Siberian tundra to Tschaunbucht and the East Siberian Sea . Before reaching the bay, the largest tributary, the Elchkakwun , meets the river from the left. The Tschaun coming from the south forms a common estuary with the Paljawaam, in which the river arms unite and separate again. The Paljawaam has a length of 416 km and drains an area of 12,900 km².
