Pamela Blake

Pamela Blake , née Adele Pearce (born August 6, 1915 in Oakland , California - † October 6, 2009 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American actress .

Life

Blake was born as Adele Pearce . At the age of 17, she won a beauty pageant and came to Hollywood . In 1934, Blake received her first film role from director Richard Wallace : a small supporting role as a schoolgirl in the movie Eight Girls in a Boat . Until 1938 she continued to play tiny supporting roles, in which she was usually not even mentioned in the credits.

She got her first leading role as Sally Jeffers in 1938 in the western The Utah Trail alongside Tex Ritter . Blake was then also engaged in the westerns Der Bandit von Wyoming ( Wyoming Outlaw ) and The Omaha Trail as a female lead. Between 1938 and 1942 Blake played leading roles in various film genres : comedy , drama , crime film , thriller and musical . In 1941 she had a supporting role in the screwball comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith , directed by Alfred Hitchcock .

In 1942 she was signed by MGM and from then on she appeared under her stage name Pamela Blake . In the same year she starred with Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd in the classic film noir Die Scarenhand ( This Gun for Hire ). In 1942 she was also seen in the then popular comedy Maisie Gets Her Man with Ann Sothern and Red Skelton . In 1956 she played Chick Carter, Detective in the crime thriller . Her last film role was in Adventures of the Texas Kid: Border Ambush in 1954 .

After World War II , Blake also took on roles in several television films and series . In the early 1950s she starred in the TV western series The Cisco Kid and The Range Rider . In total she had nearly fifty roles in film, both major and minor.

In 1953 Blake moved to Las Vegas and gradually withdrew from show business to devote himself to her family and the upbringing of their children. Blake was married three times in total.

Blake died of old age in a Las Vegas nursing home in October 2009.
