Pantelis Ioannis Kapetanos ( Greek Παντελής Καπετάνος , born June 8, 1983 in Ptolemaida ) is a former Greek football player .
Club career
FS Kozani
Kapetanos started his career in 1999 at FS Kozani , where he was also used in his youth. He played there in the third Greek league, the Gamma Ethniki .
Iraklis Thessaloniki
In 2002 Kapetanos signed a contract with Iraklis Thessaloniki , a club in the Greek Super League, and moved on for free. He played 75 games for Thessaloniki and scored 10 goals.
AEK Athens
In January 2006 he moved to AEK Athens . Overall, Kapetanos played 26 times for AEK Athens and scored four goals. With the capital city club he was runner-up behind Olympiacos three times in a row .
Steaua Bucharest and CFR Cluj
In 2008 Kaptenos moved to Romania on a free transfer to Liga 1 at Steaua Bucharest . In January 2011 he moved on to league rivals CFR Cluj , but only made two appearances there in the second half of the 2010/11 season . In the 2011/12 season he became a regular and contributed twelve goals to winning the championship, his first title.
Return to Steaua Bucharest
In summer 2013 he returned to Steaua Bucharest . There he only made eight appearances in the 2013/14 season and won his second championship at the end of the season.
Return to Greece
In the summer of 2014, Kapetanos moved back to his home country, where Skoda Xanthi signed him. With Skoda he reached the final of the Greek Cup in 2015 , but lost there with his team to Olympiacos Piraeus 1: 3. In the league he fought with his team in the 2015/16 season to stay in the class. In summer 2016 he left Xanthi again and joined league rivals Veria FC . There he played one season and was then without a club for a long time. In October 2018 he then joined Makedonikos Foufas FC and ended his active career there in summer 2019.
National team
At the beginning of 2010 the Greek national coach Otto Rehhagel appointed Kaptenos for the first time in the squad of the Greek national team . On March 3, 2010, he made his debut in the friendly against Senegal . In the summer of the same year he was in the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was used in the first group game against South Korea when he came on for Angelos Charisteas in the 61st minute .
