Paolo Emilio Rondinini

Paolo Emilio Rondinini (* 1617 in Rome ; † September 16, 1668 ibid) was an Italian clergyman, bishop of Assisi and cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

He was the son of Alessandro Rondinini and his wife Felice Zacchia. His maternal great-uncle was Cardinal Paolo Emilio Zacchia and his grandfather was Cardinal Laudivio Zacchia . Paolo Emilio Rondinini studied at the University of Perugia, where he obtained a doctorate. In 1637 he became a cleric in the Apostolic Chamber and acted as executive treasurer for Francesco Angelo Rapaccioli, who was absent for reasons of warfare. On March 4, 1643 he became Prefect of Annona .

Pope Urban VIII created him in the consistory of July 13, 1643 as a cardinal deacon . Paolo Emilio Rondinini received the red hat and the title deaconry Santa Maria in Aquiro on August 31 of the same year. He participated in the 1644 conclave , which Pope Innocent X elected.

On May 5, 1653, Paolo Emilio Rondinini was appointed Bishop of Assisi. He was ordained bishop on May 25 of the same year in the Roman church of San Silvestro in Capite by the Bishop of Imola , Cardinal Fabio Chigi ; Co- consecrators were Ranuzio Scotti , former Bishop of Borgo San Donnino , and Curia Bishop Giovanni Battista Scanarolo . As a cardinal he took part in the conclave of 1655, which Pope Alexander VII elected. On May 14, 1655 he opted for the Diakonie San Giorgio in Velabro and on March 6, 1656 for the Diakonie Santa Maria in Cosmedin . He was a participant in the conclave of 1667 , which was in the election of Clement IX. flowed. On April 30, 1668, Paolo Emilio Rondinini opted for the cardinal class of cardinal priests and for the titular church of Sant'Eusebio (Rome) .

He died on September 16, 1668 at 6 p.m. after a brief illness in the palace of Prince Camillo Pamphilj in Piazza Rondadini in Rome. He was buried on September 18th next to his father and grandfather in the Roman church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva .
