Paolo Francesco Antamori

Paolo Francesco Antamori (also Paolo Francesco Antamoro ; born November 14, 1712 in Rome , † December 4, 1795 in Orvieto ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church and Bishop of Orvieto .

Life

He came from a Roman patrician family and was the son of the consistorial advocate Tommaso Antamori (or Antamoro ; * around 1671; † April 1751), rector of the University of La Sapienza (1741-1747), and his wife Elena Belloni.

He completed his studies at the University of La Sapienza on September 26, 1737 with a doctorate to Doctor iuris utriusque . On December 11, 1740, he received the tonsure and entered the clergy . In November 1737 he became a relator of the Congregation for the Administration of Goods. In 1741 Pope Benedict XIV appointed him coadjutor of his father as consistorial advocate. After his father's death, he followed him in April 1751. Paolo Francesco Antamori held various positions in the Curia until he became rector of La Sapienza University in September 1760. On October 9 In 1774 he received the consecrations Low and was on June 10, 1775 to sub-deacon , and on June 1, 1776 for ordained deacon . In November 1775 he became Apostolic Protonotary .

Pope Pius VI raised Paolo Francesco Antamori in the consistory of December 11, 1780 to cardinal priest and at the same time appointed him Bishop of Orvieto, subject to dispensation from the condition of ordained priest. The Pope awarded him the cardinal's hat on December 14th of the same year. He received his episcopal ordination on February 11, 1781 in Rome, the Cardinal Bishop of Frascati , Henry Benedict Stuart ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops Giovanni Francesco Guidi di Bagno-Talenti and Carlo Camuzi .

On April 2, 1781 he took possession of Sant'Alessio as a titular church .

He died in his bishopric and was buried in Orvieto Cathedral.
